Service, Empathy, PassionFor anyone who calls themselves an actor

A two-hour acting workshop with Charlie Lockwood, founder of Ardor Theater Company.

We bring objectivity to the job of an actor through simple, easy-to-digest concepts: part stoic philosophy, part egoless, playful exercises. For anyone who calls themselves an actor, at any stage. Part of the TISTO Guest Season.

The Situation

What makes an actor successful in 2026? We take the job apart, piece by piece, and put it back together so you can carry it into any room.

What we notice:

• you’ve felt suffocated by the hundreds of acting techniques that each claim to be “the one”

• you need a bespoke toolkit you can carry into any room

• you want to live truthfully in every part of your life, even while being constantly perceived

• you’re curious about your place in the modern acting canon

• you want to know what actually makes an actor successful today

The Practices

We start with a little history lesson, to get excited about our role in the story of the medium. Then we break down the actor’s job, the skill itself, and learn it through fun games and exercises. The best acting technique is the one that works for you.

How we play:

• a warm-up

• a short history of the actor’s craft

• the actor’s job, broken down into clear concepts

• techniques from many practitioners: keep what works for you

• egoless, playful theater games

• a scene to finish

What you’ll experience

Clarity

TISTO Workshop

It was the first time in a long while that I wasn’t in my head. I laughed so much and felt completely free.
